Jarbidge Wilderness
Adventures

Explore Nevada's best kept secret.

A trip you'll be talking about for the rest of your life

Take some time away from it all, and let our horses and guides transport you into the heart and history of the Jarbidge Wilderness.  As Nevada's first designated wilderness area, the Jarbidge Wilderness encompasses some of Nevada's most stunning and varied topography along with endless high desert vistas.  With eight peaks towering over 10,000 feet, some consider the Jarbidge mountains Nevada's own alps.  The best way to experience this remote location is to reach it as the first visitors did, on horseback.  Experience our camps your way - hike the peaks, go fishing, practice yoga, or just relax without the distractions of modern life.  We're here to make your dream trip come true.

expert guides

Jarbidge Wilderness Guide & Packing is family owned and operated.  The Prunty family started guiding hunters in Northeastern Nevada during the early 1940's.  Four generations later, Master Guide Lowell Prunty and his daughters have continued the family tradition.  With over 40 years of experience in the Jarbidge Wilderness, we bring passion and love of the country like no one else.

quality camps & meals

We go above and beyond  to provide our guests with an enjoyable experience in the backcountry.  Our camps will quickly feel like home away from home.  We've also perfected our camp meals.  This ain't your grandpa's meat and beans over the campfire.  We provide three quality meals per day.  We've mastered the art of packing in fruits and veggies, and can accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have.

hidden gem destinations

The Jarbidge Wilderness is one of the least travelled wilderness areas in the United States and one of the few places that is still considered to have class 1 air quality.  The Jarbidge Wilderness possesses a spectacular combination of heavily timbered areas, high desert open ranges, 500 foot rock formations and volcanic cut valleys created thousands of years ago.  Come discover Nevada's best kept secret.

“After three wonderful and unforgettable trips into the Jarbidge Wilderness, I find myself in awe of the natural beauty of this island mountain range. I've found that the Jarbidge with its beauty and peacefulness will saturate your total being right down to your very soul.”

John

“We finally got home and I wanted to thank you again for a great trip. It was the best part of my vacation - for many reasons. The unparalleled beauty, great horses, exceptional company, the unexpected mountain gourmet food, and the care that you gave us all.”

Pat
New York

“I've been to Hawaii, Yellowstone; Jarbidge Nevada is the most beautiful of them all. It would not have been the same experience if it were not for the professionalism and experience of Lowell Prunty and his crew, horses included.”

Aaron
Alaska

“We are all still raving about the fabulous time we had in the Jarbidge Wilderness with you. Thank you for making it possible for us. It truly ranks among our best, most memorable trips we have taken. You are obviously masters at what you do and although I know it's a lot of hard work, you make it look easy and fun. The food was great, the scenery spectacular and your company delightful. Perhaps the nicest thing was when we left feeling that we had made new friends.”

"Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."
